BLM Solidarity
Description:
The Black Lives Matter Solidarity Committee was formed in reaction to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others, as well as this summer's uprisings against police brutality and racial injustice. It strives to amplify the work of Black activists, to educate on the roadblocks to racial equity, and to mobilize TAPAS members and beyond in support of Black Lives. Thus far, we have organized two Action Hours, events in which committee members give brief teach-ins and then help the event's attendees complete pre-selected advocacy tasks. These tasks include signing petitions, lobbying legislators by email or phone, and starting online fundraisers. We are currently partnering with Harvard's AAA to plan both a panel on Asian and Black solidarity in activism and an Action Hour whose tasks will complement the panel's subject.
Who should join the committee?:
We welcome anyone who is looking to lend their strengths to and educate themselves on the Black Lives Matter movement.
