Chinatown Community Fridge
Description:
Food insecurity is a critical problem in Boston Chinatown. Many initiatives, such as those led by Chinatown Main Street, have formed to address this problem. The Chinatown Community Fridge team formed after members held conversations with Chinatown community organizations and conducted research regarding this issue. The mission of the community fridge is to help mitigate food insecurity by providing fresh, healthy, and high-quality goods in a fully stocked and properly-maintained mutual aid refrigerator that is available to residents at all times. Our project is currently focused on pursuing ongoing dialogues with Chinatown community members. Through this, we hope to build a multi-valent and multi-centered team of fridge volunteers to sustainably maintain grow the project, and ultimately work to abolish the conditions of food insecurity.
